The month-long Miss Siliguri, Mrs Siliguri and Smart Siliguri competitions, which are being organised by Uttar Anandabanga Patrika, in collaboration with Radio Misty 94.3 fm, the first and Number one fm station of North Bengal and Sikkim commenced last evening in Siliguri. There was huge crowd to witness the preliminary rounds. A total of 32 contestants from all over north Bengal and Sikkim made it to the finals of the contest, which are likely to be held in the third week of January 2010.
While 14 contestants were selected for the finals of the Miss Siliguri contest, 12 contestants qualified for the finals of the Smart Siliguri competition. Six contestants will vie for the Mrs Siliguri title. Ace choreographer, Abhijeet Dutta choreographed the rounds and fashion photographer, Biswajeet Ghosh from Kolkata did the portfolios. The main objective of these contests was to spot acting and modelling talents in north Bengal and Sikkim, and then help them to establish themselves in the field of cinema and fashion in the country.
