Ron gives English girls the thumbs down

He may be a superstar at Old Trafford alright. But when it comes to choosing girlfriends, Ronaldo is letting his mother to do the job instead, News of the World reported.

Although he has romanced a string of British beauties such as Gemma Atkinson, Ronaldo has put the boot into English women in a television interview.

Ronaldo declared in a TV interview: "Portuguese women are better. . . Spanish, Brazilians and East Europeans are my favourites."

Instead, the Portugal international has left the selection of his girlfriends to his mummy, Dolores Aveiro.

The problem though, might lie with Aveiro's somewhat quirky fashion sense and taste in clothes, which effectively translates to her less than convincing standards in picking her son's girlfriends.

Aveiro arrived at Old Trafford to watch his son play in Manchester United's 4-1 thrashing by Liverpool in pinstripe hotpants, leather cap, high heels, massive WAG-bag and a tacky top emblazoned with her son's fashion brand logo. With a fashion sense like that, even Sir Alex Ferguson might consider giving her his infamous hairdryer treatment.

One fan said: "They say men look for their mother in the women they fall for. . . well Cristiano better watch out. If any of his girls end up with thunder thighs like that she could do him a mischief."

How right the fan is.

Ron gets involved in a spat - literally

A vagrant wanted Ronaldo to buy a magazine priced at £1.50 per copy. But the Manchester United star, who earns £100,000-a-week, refused to do so, reported The Sun.

Ronaldo just brushed past him and hopped into his £150,000 Bentley.

That left the vagrant seething as he swore at Ronaldo and challenged him to a fight.

Ronaldo refused to get out of the car and the vagrant simply spat over the windscreen.

A witness in Manchester city centre said: "He gobbed all over the windscreen. Ronaldo was obviously seething.

"He had a face like thunder as he drove off."
