Sun Direct STB’s Software

I bought Sun Direct in June this year. I got the Samsung STB model no. DSB-B580R. It was loaded with the old type of software, my friend also bought one week later but he got some other software loaded in, it was showing channel logos and red color menu and Sun Direct logo at the bottom left of the screen.

Then I inquire with the Nodal office at Ahmedabad, they said that the loader version 6 is the latest version, they said that the updation of the software happens automatically through the satellite so whenever they update the software your STB will catch the same provided it is on.

I don’t understand why they change the software frequently. It will be great help if any of you would share your experiences here.

The following are the data from my STB stating the version of the STB software:

Menu > Status & Mails > CA Status > Loader Status
Load Ver – 6
Loader Ver – 3.1

Menu > Status & Mails > IRD SW Version
Softcell Version - 3.6.20
Loader Version - 3.1
Main SW Version – V1.29P2

Is this the latest version?

Display of menu has nothing to do with the software. The display are related to hardware which is pre installed. Even i my hathway Digita; Stb whth the change in model no the display and look changes.

Sun direct is using different software for each STB. I bought SD in 2007 they gave me Homecast STB. It is not loaded with open tv software where as the new onle like samsung STB is having open tv software. SD people lease bothered about the software for STB.

Can anobody please tell me how to upgrade the IRD version of sundirect detup box ? The menu for new software upgrade is disabled in my setup box.

Currently it is 3.6.20.
