The much-awaited and immensely popular 3rd Suvarna Film Awards will be presented on June 25, 2011. A four-member jury headed by veteran producer-director-actor Dwarakish, national award-winning actress Tara, writer Jogi and director Milan Prakash are currently viewing and analysing the films which are in fray for the prestigious awards and select the winners for the Suvarna Film Awards.

Over 132 films released in 2010, in 29 categories and 150 nominations, besides five special awards, will be selected by the viewers and film goers' popular choice.

In order to collect the audiences and viewers votes from across the prominent cities of the State a special Film Fans Express canter van will go a tour. The van will collect the audiences and viewers votes from Mysore, Hassan, Mangalore, Shimoga, Davangere, Hospet, Dharwad and Chitradurga.

And in a first of its kind, says Suvarna Channel Programming Head Raghavendra Hunsur "audiences and general public can also send in their votes through SMSes."

Adds Suvarna Channel Business Head Anup Chandrashekar by taking the opinion and views of the ordinary public, the channel is providing an opportunity for every Kannidaga to cast his/her vote for the films that were released in 2010.
By engaging and involving the viewers and audiences in the voting process Suvarna Channel, he claims, is creating a new chapter in its chequered history.

Further, according to Chandrashekar, the Suvarna Film Awards have been designed and created taking inputs from the various premier forums for such awards.
Began in 2008, the Suvarna Film Awards, which have become immensely popular among the film fans and channel audiences, has now entered its third edition, with the second edition held in 2010.
