'A Knight’s Tale' - Tent Pole Picture of the Month on PIX

Make way for an inspiring blend of adventure, comedy and modern sensibility as ‘A Knight’s Tale’ makes a royal appearance this February. PIX, the premium English movie channel from Multi Screen Media Pvt. Ltd. airs ‘A Knight’s Tale’ on Sunday 22nd February’09 at 8.00pm. The film stars all-time favorite, late Heath Ledger and other talents such as Mark Addy, Alan Tudyk and Paul Bettany as the Tent Pole Picture of the Month.

‘A Knight’s Tale’ gives a contemporary make-over to the medieval genre with an amazing soundtrack that includes hit songs from rock band Queen and others like David Bowie and Thin Lizzy. Inspired by “The Canterbury Tales” written by Geoffrey Chaucer in the 14th Century, A Knight’s Tale is splendidly written and directed by Brian Helgeland.

Jousting Tournaments, in the Middle Ages, before television or professional sports, was the only one form of competition to separate the men from the boys. William Thatcher (Heath Ledger), a poor and humble squire, dreams of proving himself worthy as a knight. When he gets a lucky chance, seeing an opportunity to disguise himself in the identity of a knight, William decides to maintain the illusion for as long as possible. He is aided by his friends Wat, Roland, and Geoffrey Chaucer a writer with a knack for forging official papers.

Under his new title, Sir Ulrich of Liechtenstein, William wins tournaments and receives monetary awards. However, the only way for William to prove himself as truly noble is to beat out all of his enemies, including the arrogant and undefeated Count Adhemar (Rufus Sewell), in a series of jousts. Once he does so, William decides to reveal his true identity.

The tagline “He didn’t make the rules. He was born to break them” sums the plot well.
