India’s Got Talent- Asia’s biggest talent hunt show Coming Soon On COLORS

Jury’s out on India’s Got Talent Show to be judged by Shekhar Kapur, Sonali Bendre and Kirron Kher

Delhi, 21ST May, 2009: Film director extraordinaire Shekhar Kapur, the gorgeous Sonali Bendre and the epitome of poise – actress Kirron Kher will serve as the three-person judging panel for India’s Got Talent – Asia’s biggest talent hunt show with a difference that will soon be seen for the first time on Viacom 18’s channel COLORS. Conceptualized by Simon Cowell’s SYCO TV production company and FremantleMedia, the producers of shows like American Idol and many other big ticket reality shows, India’s Got Talent will be hosted by MTV VJs Nikhil Chinappa and Ayushman Khurana and feature performers of any kind competing to win a bumper cash prize.

India’s Got Talent is a multi-performance high entertainment variety show. Having the ultimate entertainment platform, the show will comb every town and city in India of India, showcasing the best acts & talents. The key is to entertain the nation. Originality is the buzz word. It could be a trapeze artist thrilling you to the core or a one man army band, India’s Got Talent is about out of this world entertainment. What’s more? There’s no age limit. So the platform will see artists as young as seven to as old as 70 performing on the show.

Ashvini Yardi, Head of Programming, COLORS while speaking about the newly appointed jury members for India’s Got Talent said, “Sonali, Kirron and Shekhar – all three of them are people who have established themselves in their fields and have received both critical acclaim and commercial success. They are well versed in their arts and know what to expect in a performance. Their judgment will be valuable as their artistic contributions have been varied and each one of them brings a different strength, a diverse perspective to the table.”

For legendary film director Shekhar Kapur, this is his first time as a jury member on a reality show. “It is exciting to be a part of the show that showcases everything from the predictable to the bizarre. I am looking forward to being amazed by people. Judging a show that follows no set format is usually very challenging. But that is what makes this experience a lot more intriguing,” said the filmmaker who will be focusing on expressions, the idea, and the concept of the act being presented.

“Being a fan of reality television, I’m happy to be a part of a show that embraces all of India’s diverse talent,” said Sonali Bendre, the vivacious actress who also has experience judging a popular singing talent hunt show. “When I got the call from COLORS to be part of India’s Got Talent, I was thrilled because I have seen the British version and found it absolutely ingenious. I thought it was a wonderful way to catalogue the diverse Indian talent for the younger generations, while being a wholesome family entertainer.” Sonali will be judging contestants on their costume, make up and overall presentation.

The latest ‘Maa’ sensation of Bollywood, Kirron Kher will also be seen on the panel. Kirron will be looking for technique and how well an act is being presented. She said, “It is interesting to see a show that promotes all kinds of talent. I am sure I will be witnessing some never before seen acts. I am thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful show that is the first of its kind in Asia.”

“It should be a blast,” adds Nikhil Chinappa, the popular VJ on MTV. Joining him will be his faithful partner in crime Aayushman Khurana. The dynamic duo will be constant companions to the contestants and will be in charge of brining interesting talent to the jury.
