HP and Cartoon Network’s Toon Creator Awards Winner from India Announced
Hewlett-Packard and Cartoon Network’s inaugural online animation contest concludes its search for talented, young animators
NEW DELHI, India, January 14, 2010 – Hewlett-Packard and Cartoon Network today announced the winners of the inaugural Toon Creator Awards after evaluating over 31,000 individual and school contest entries from budding young animators spanning the Asia Pacific region.
Toon Creator Awards, an exciting interactive contest where kids could create their own short animations, named the talented Shreyas Aiyar as its Individual Country Winner for India, which received a total of 10715 entries. Malaysia’s Mohammad Aidy Adham was named as this year’s Asia Pacific Grand Prize Winner.
The individual winner of Toon Creator Award in India, Shreyas Aiyar said, “I had never dreamt in my wildest dreams that I would be the winner for the Toon Creator Awards for India. I thank Cartoon Network for giving me this wonderful opportunity and my parents who encouraged me.”
Shreyas Aiyar was awarded with an HP TouchSmart PC and a Cartoon Network Digital Pack loaded with Ben 10 branded goodies including an MP3 player, a pre-loaded MP4 player, a digital camera, a USB flash drive and an MP3 speaker. In addition to the prizes won as an Individual Country Winner, Grand Prize Winner Mohammad from Malaysia received an HP Digital Makeover consisting of additional HP products designed to nurture his creative abilities; and an HP technician onsite for the setup. His prizes consisted of additional HP Pavilion p6000 desktop PC, an HP Pavilion dm3 notebook PC, a printer and an array of supplies.
Schools in the region also encouraged students to nurture their creativity and express themselves through technology with Toon Creator Awards. In India, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 recorded the most registered entries and received three HP TouchSmart PCs for its computer labs to enhance its students’ learning experience as they “Touch the Future” with the new PCs.
