Unveiling the Aces up Zee Café’s Sleeve
Zee Café, the English GEC that brings you the best of America’s sitcoms, reality series, thrillers and stand up comedy acts will bring you the latest seasons of some of the most popular TV series and a slew of new shows in its programming line-up over the next couple of months. Prominent amongst its trump cards are the latest season (Season 5) of the 5-time Emmy-nominated series Grey’s Anatomy, People’s Choice Awards 2009, America’s Funniest Home Videos, I dream of Jeannie, America’s Most Smartest Model, the brand-new comedy Gary Unmarried, the “hot” workout show Fitness Corner, the critically acclaimed family saga Brothers & Sisters and the eagerly awaited LIVE telecast of Emmy Awards 2009.
Coming up on Independence day is The People’s Choice Awards which is a widely attended annual awards show instituted in 1975, recognizing the work of popular culture and is claimed to be based on the opinions of the general public. Being inundated with thousands of emails demanding the show’s return, the channel brings back the magic of the most popular Old Skool show, I Dream of Jeannie. September brings the brand-new season 5 of Grey’s Anatomy which has been the #1 scripted series in America’s Top 10 shows. The show follows the professional and personal lives of five surgical interns and their mentors in the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital. Brothers and Sisters has already won Sally Field the Best actress Award in a Drama series at the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards in 2008. The show interestingly captures the lives of mature, adult siblings in an American family. Gary Unmarried, a fresh comedy, follows the life of Gary Brooks, a painting contractor, newly divorced after fifteen years of marriage who strives to balance work, the shared custody of his two children, a controlling ex-wife and his foxy new girlfriend. Add to the fray ‘Fitness Corner’ which features some of the world’s hottest women helping you with your morning workout and ‘America’s Most Smartest Model’ where the models try to defy the “myth” that models are dumb and there’s a bounty of vibrant entertainment in store for the audience.
Very recently, Zee Café successfully aired its first in-house production, Cafè Mic Testing, a reality talent-hunt game show in search of its next voice-over artiste. The response to this show hosted by VJ Sarah Jane Dias has been extremely positive with demands being made for an encore. Another great show with an ensemble cast set against a medical backdrop à la Grey’s Anatomy is Private Practice- the best performing new show in its 1st year of telecast. Its season 2 is currently on air on Zee Café at 9 PM on Mondays starting July.
