With their power and prestige, they are often involved in embarrassing scandals and serious legal troubles. Fortunately the family patriarch, Tripp Darling (Sutherland), has recruited idealistic lawyer Nick George (Krause) to take care of their legal needs and protect the family name.
Since his late father also represented the Darlings, Nick has grown up in the shadow of this high-profile family. Despite his reluctance to follow in his father’s footsteps, Nick is persuaded to take on the job as the Darlings’ personal lawyer.
Unsure of what to expect, the show mixes intelligent drama with a very sharp wit. Its’ strongest feature is its beautifully developing characterization of its main protagonists, each revealing themselves to have more depth than we are originally shown. The strong moral undertones of the show lend themselves well to family viewing, and leave the viewer feeling satisfied at the end of each show, which is nice when nearly every other drama deems it necessary to leave the viewer with a cliffhanger. Put simply, this is one of the best developing shows on television, which is too interesting for the glimpse into the lives of the uber-wealthy it gives us.
