Mumbai, 13th August: The friendly elephant Horton and the funny inhabitants of ‘Whoville’ are here to regale you this weekend! Dubbed in the voices of Steven Carrel and Jim Carrey, STAR Movies presents the animated blockbuster ‘Horton Hears a Who’ on 15th August at 9pm!
The animated blockbuster captures the life of Horton in the jungle of Nool. Horton’s adventure begins when he hears a cry for help coming from a speck of dust. Even though he can’t see anyone on the speck, he decides to help it; he uses a clover to rescue the speck of dust and he makes contact with the Mayor of the city of Whoville. Horton discovers that in that tiny speck there is a city crowded with tiny creatures called ‘Who’s and he decides to leave Whoville in a safe place.
Horton agrees to help protect the Whos and their home, but this gives him nothing but torment from his neighbors, who refuse to believe that anything could survive on the speck. The evil Kangaroo does not believe Horton’s story and thinks he’s dangerous for the children of Nool, making them believe in what they cannot see, hear or feel, and incites the animals against Horton. Still, Horton stands by the motto that, “After all, a person is a person, no matter how small.”
It’s indeed interesting to see a pretty big creature like Horton concerned with protecting the tiniest creatures of all…even if the others in the jungle of Nool may not believe that’s he’s right about all those tiny people on the speck. The look of the film is visually stunning, and a good voice cast. CBS Radio’s Charles Osgood narrates; the mayor and his wife are Steve Carrell and Amy Poehler, and Jim Carrey voices Horton. Carol Burnett plays the sour Kangaroo and Jesse McCartney voices JoJo.
