As the twin nations – Indian and Pakistan – celebrate their 62nd Independence Day anniversary, NewsX presents a series of special programmes that will reflect on the last 62 years of independence. The special Independence Day programming includes two prime time shows- Midnight Nations and Freedom Actually along with string of vignettes bringing out multiple facets tracing the history since the independence. The content of the special shows and the special capsules will revolve around Independent India’s journey through these 62 years and a course forward for one of the fastest growing economy in the world. NewsX will showcase different shades of the spirit through facts, footages and expert view points.

Midnight Nations on 14th August at 9 PM brings together experts and personalities from India and Pakistan to discuss the coexistence of the two nations since their independence. The studio based panel discussion will have experts such as Vikram Sood (Ex RAW), G Parthasarthy, Saeed Naqvi, (Rt) Gen Shankar Roy Choudhury from India and Jugnu Moshim (Senior Journalist), (Rt) Gen Talat Masood, Hamir Mir (Senior Journalist) and Film Maker Seema Bawvra from Pakistan.

Freedom actually on 15th August at 9PM will bring together some of the prominent guests like Vir Sanghvi, Salman Khurshid and Aijaz Ilmi to discuss the true sense of freedom. Also watch celebrities and citizens sharing their viewpoints in this show.

The channel will also host a series of capsules in three different segments- Historic Milestones, “Freedom” and on Celebrity Bites. The Historic Milestones will focus on specific milestones from 1947 onwards; Freedom” vignettes will feature sentiments of people and talk about what we are free from – Freedom from hunger, Economic Freedom and so on.; and Celebrity Bites will feature famous parent child duos about their respective generations and ho w they perceive freedom. Some of names which appear through the vignettes include celebrities like Jitendra and Tusshar Kapoor, PA Sangma & Agatha, Mani Shankar Aiyar, Dr Pratap Reddy (of Apollo) and his daughter and Sandeep Dixit talking about what freedom means to them.
