UTV World Movies forays into theatrical release
UTV World Movies has announced its foray into the theatrical release of its award winning titles with the premier of ‘Waltz with Bashir’ an Israeli movie that has been nominated for over 22 international awards and won 12. The movie is the winner of the Best foreign film award at the Golden Globe Awards 2009 and was also a nominee at the prestigious Academy Awards this year.
The movie shall premier in PVR Phoenix Mills, on July 29th ’09 at 8.30 PM. To grace the occasion Roman Paul, one of the eminent producers of ‘Waltz with Bashir’ would join the celebrations. A large number Bollywood celebrities including famous directors and stars shall attend the premier .The sponsors for the premier of Waltz with Bashir include Honda Jazz, Airtel, Brooke Bond Taj Mahal, Chivas Music CDs, Morellato Time. Directed by Ari Folman, “Waltz with Bashir” is a ground-breaking personal account of the horrors of the 1982 Lebanon War. The film made its premiere at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, where it was nominated for a Palme d’Or. The film has garnered international acclaim and has received multiple film honors, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Film, a Best Animated Feature Award from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and both a Best Picture Award and Best Foreign Language Film Award from the National Society of Film Critics
With the acquisition of 140 new titles this year for theatrical release, UTV World Movies goes beyond our television screens to introduce its audience to the realm of an exciting cinematic journey. The channel, in association with PVR, will showcase the choicest movies across Mumbai, Bangalore & Delhi. The first sets of movies in the pipeline are “Waltz with Bashir”, “The Song of Sparrows” & “I always wanted to be a gangster” and the Oscar winner “The Counterfeiters”.
