CNN-IBN takes you back to the War with “Kargil-Lest we Forget”

It’s been 10 years since the Indian soldiers stamped their victory scaling through the high altitudes and inhospitable terrain of Kargil. CNN-IBN as part Kargil Vijay Diwas celebration brings a host of special shows as a tribute to the great war heroes. CNN-IBN will air a One hour special show “Kargil-Lest we Forget” on 25th July at 8 PM & Sunday 12 PM with families of Kargil martyrs, raising the question ‘Do we really care about our soldiers’. All through this week a series of stories on Kargil with a mix of ground reports on those who died villages that were engulfed in war ten years hence, along with reports of families of soldiers who died will be aired daily. On Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26th July at 11.30 AM & 9.30 PM, CNN-IBN will bring for its viewers an investigative show “Kargil Are We Battle Ready” that will expose basic facilities that our soldiers lack to survive at the World’s highest battle ground.

On 24th July at 8.30 PM, CNN-IBN will bring for its viewers a very special show “Kargil Remembering the Heroes” right from the Line of Control. The half hour show will look back and salute the real heroes behind the Kargil victory who laid down their lives for the prestige of the country. “Kargil-Lest we Forget” will bring together families of various Kargil martyrs, families of many who were serious injured, young army men who left the armed forces to join corporate India along with countries finest war veterans. The show will engross the viewers in the debate why the young don’t want to join the forces and do we think about our soldier only in crisis.

“Kargil Are We Battle Ready” the half hour special on CNN-IBN will expose loopholes in providing our soldiers with state of the art weapons and facilities till date. Our armed forces at a height of 16,000 feet and freezing temperature of approximately -480C fight with No night visions, outdated weapons, no bullet proof jackets, no artillery or even snow boots to survive the harsh conditions. The show will try to analyze why even after 10 years of Kargil battle these basic resources are still not in place and if Kargil happens again would our soldier be better prepared.
