Zee News moves ahead with its effort to motivate viewers to exercise their ‘Right to Vote’ judiciously. Zee News along with nation’s leading youth organisation NYKS(Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan) in partnership with NSS(National Service Scheme) and social organisation like JCM(Jan Chetna Manch), conducted a series of informative and engaging on-ground activities in Pune and Bengaluru.
On Saturday April 18, 2009, a chain of activities as a part of the voter awareness campaign were initiated. The Pune event was kickstarted with a rally from the Collectorate to Saras Bagh leading to Street plays organised in association with the Song and Drama division of the city, a signature campaign oath to vote to motivate people to cast there valuable vote, judiciously. The specially conceptualised skits, around the theme of elections emphasised and educated the masses about their duty as well as a responsibility towards the nation.
On the other hand, the Bangalore event started with Oath to vote at the Vidhan Soudha led by Shri H S Doreswamy (Freedom Fighter) and was followed by cultural programme at Freedom Park to generate awareness about the importance and significance of voting for a better tomorrow.
Supporting this cause, Zee News has partnered with Dish tv to maximise the impact of the campaign. The channel organised an interactive session with eminent personalities like Justice V.S. Malimutt, Chairman, State Law Commission and Sri. Vikram Desh, Rit. Programme Director, NYKS & Jan Chetna Manch in Bengaluru. In Pune, the event was attended Chandrakant Dalvi (Distt. Collector), Dr. Veerji Vaidya (Eminent scientist) , Neelkanth Kulsungey (Deputy director, Song & Drama division, I&B ministry) and Yashwant Mankhedkar (Distt. Youth Coordinator, NYKS) Pune who shared their opinion and educated the masses about their duty to choose the right representatives for the nation.
