It’s celebration time yet again for team ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’ PIX-the premium English movie channel from Multi Screen Media Pvt Ltd on the occasion of the prestigious BAFTA 2009, conveys its heartiest congratulations to the entire cast and crew of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ for their 7 BAFTAs which includes awards for:
1.Best Film – Slumdog Millionaire
2.Best Director – Danny Boyle
3.Best Adapted Screenplay – Simon Beaufoy
4.Best Music – A.R. Rahman
5.Best Cinematography – Anthony Dod Mantle
6.Best Editing – Chris Dickens
7.Best Sound – Glenn Freemantle, Resul Pookutty, Richard Pryke, Tom Sayers, Ian Tapp
The film received the highest number of awards at the BAFTA Awards 2009 after bagging 11 nominations, a BAFTA record. The wins are of greater significance for the channel as the mega BAFTA winner ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ will air exclusively on PIX this summer. The channel has bought the rights through a recently concluded license deal with FOX STAR India.
Apart from ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ took home 3 awards of the tech variety and the remaining titles took home one award each. ‘Man on Wire’ was awarded Outstanding British Film. Acting awards went to Kate Winslet (Lead, The Reader), Penélope Cruz (Supporting, Vicky Cristina Barcelona), Mickey Rourke (Lead, The Wrestler) and Heath Ledger (Supporting, The Dark Knight).
